This handheld Cadillac Accessories GM CCS1 DC Adapter is designed for compatible GM EVs with a NACS charging inlet (J3400). It unlocks access to non-NACS DC fast public chargers, including EVgo, ChargePoint and thousands of CCS1 DC fast chargers across the United States and Canada. With a V2H-capable vehicle, the GM CCS1 DC Adapter allows you to provide power to your properly equipped home during a power outage when used with the GM Energy PowerShift Charger (sold separately) and the GM Energy Enablement Kit (sold separately). Includes one GM CCS1 DC Adapter, instruction sheet and a full-color product postcard on usage that links out to more information. PLEASE NOTE: GM does not guarantee access to all CCS1 DC fast chargers. To charge your vehicle safely, the electrical circuit must be built to handle the high, steady power demand of EV charging. Speed of charging will vary based on vehicle type, battery condition, input voltage, vehicle settings and outside temperature. Software updates may be necessary for additional functionality and convenience features in the future. Actual images and features may vary and are subject to change. Users should not modify or repair the adapter, as this could pose fire hazards, electric shock risks, or cause compatibility issues. Actual production will vary. The GM Energy PowerShift Charger and GM Energy V2H Enablement Kit requires an adequately charged and properly equipped GM EV (anticipated compatible vehicles: https://gmenergy.gm.com/for-home/products/gm-energy-powershift-charger) having bidirectional charging capabilities, a properly equipped home and proper grid interconnection. Some eligible 24MY EVs will require a dealership or over-the-air (OTA) vehicle update to enable bidirectional charging. Depending on a residence’s power needs, certain appliances, utilities and circuits may not be powered during an outage. Weather conditions, useful life of the battery, vehicle variation and usage, and other external factors will impact the duration of power supply. Power supply may be interrupted. It is not recommended that the following be powered with the GM Energy PowerShift Charger and V2H Enablement Kit: medical devices. WARNING: The misuse of charge cord adapters may cause electrical overheating, resulting in vehicle damage or personal injury. If you use an adapter, or charging equipment, which is not sold, provided or approved by General Motors and it causes damage to your vehicle’s charging system (battery, inlet, etc.), it would not be covered under the limited warranty. See your GM vehicle limited warranty for more details. GM is not liable for damages arising from use of non-GM-approved adapters, charging stations or non-GM vehicles. Package Specifications
GM warrants the GM CCS1 DC Adapter against defects in materials or workmanship for up to 1 year from the date of delivery to the original retail purchaser. GM will replace the part or parts deemed to be defective, at its sole discretion, at no cost to the purchaser; any associated labor costs, however, are not covered by this warranty. This warranty applies exclusively to the original retail purchaser when (i) purchased via MyBrand App, (ii) shipped directly to the original purchaser by GM or a GM dealership, or (iii) received with vehicle at time of purchase in CARB compliant states. This GM CCS1 DC Adapter is a portable adapter designed to enable a GM EV with a NACS charging inlet to utilize applicable CCS1 DC fast public chargers; to enable its bidirectional capabilities, a V2H-capable GM EV, the GM Energy PowerShift Charger (sold separately) and the GM Energy Enablement Kit (sold separately) are required. GM customers can locate applicable CCS1 DC fast public chargers through their GM vehicle brand mobile apps.
Place the GM CCS1 DC Adapter onto the CCS1 DC fast charger coupler first and then insert it into the vehicle charge port. Once the charger and adapter are securely in place, you can open your vehicle mobile app or infotainment system and follow the prompts to begin charging. Once a charge session is complete, you may remove the coupler and GM CCS1 DC Adapter as one unit from the vehicle. You can then close the charge port and remove the GM CCS1 DC Adapter from the charger, separating the two (To remove the adapter from the CCS1 DC fast charger, you will need to pull the adapter off the charger). GM recommends storing the GM CCS1 DC Adapter in your vehicle until your next charging session. The GM vehicle brand mobile apps are available on select Apple and Android devices. The GM CCS1 DC Adapter is not compatible to use with Level 2 NACS chargers, including wall connectors and public destination chargers. With the use of the GM CCS1 DC Adapter, GM EV drivers will have access to EVgo, ChargePoint and CCS1 DC fast chargers.
The GM CCS1 DC Adapter is rated for up to 500 amps/1,000 volts. Actual charging rates will depend on a number of variables, including the CCS1 DC fast charger model generation output, your vehicle’s onboard charging specifics and other factors. Charging rates will vary. Actual range will vary based on several factors, including ambient temperature, terrain, battery age, temperature and condition, loading, and how you use and maintain your vehicle.
You can search for and find CCS1 DC fast chargers, plan a route, initiate a charge and process payment using the GM vehicle brand mobile apps or through the built-in Google feature on your GM EV’s infotainment center. If your vehicle has Google built-in compatibility, you can also use Google Maps on your center display to search for and route to a CCS1 DC fast charger after changing the adapter setting in charge station filtering. From the map screen, select the Charging Stations icon under the search bar. In the charging stations list, select the Filters icon and navigate to the compatible plugs section. Here you can select your plug type and toggle on CCS1. Google Maps on your center display will now include CCS1 compatible charge stations in its search results and EV trip plans. GM strongly advises that customers use a GM CCS1 DC Adapter for charging at CCS1 DC compatible fast chargers, which has been specifically designed to protect GM EV batteries while charging. Damage to vehicle components resulting from the installation or use of non-GM-approved parts is not covered under the terms of the vehicle limited warranty and may affect remaining warranty coverage for affected parts.
