This handheld Cadillac Accessories GM J1772 AC Adapter is designed for compatible GM EVs with a NACS charging inlet. It unlocks access to the 240V, 11.5kW/48-amp unidirectional GM PowerUp 2: J1772 Charger and other compatible Level 2 chargers, including home chargers (each sold separately) and public chargers, making charging more convenient at home and on the go. The GM J1772 Adapter supports up to 277V AC and handles up to 80A of continuous current flow. Includes one GM J1772 AC Adapter and a full-color product postcard on usage that links out to more information. PLEASE NOTE: To charge your vehicle safely, the electrical circuit must be built to handle the high, steady power demand of EV charging. Speed of charging will vary based on vehicle type, battery condition, input voltage, vehicle settings and outside temperature. Over-the-air (OTA) vehicle software updates may be necessary for additional functionality and convenience features in the future. Actual images and features may vary and are subject to change. Users should not modify or repair the adapter, as this could pose fire hazards, electric shock risks, or cause compatibility issues. WARNING: The misuse of charge cord adapters may cause electrical overheating, resulting in vehicle damage or personal injury. Only use GM-approved adapters with the charge cord. If you use an adapter, or charging equipment, which is not sold, provided or approved by General Motors and it causes damage to your vehicle’s charging system (battery, inlet, etc.), it would not be covered under the limited warranty. GM warrants the GM J1772 AC Adapter against defects in materials or workmanship for up to 1 year from the date of delivery to the original retail purchaser. GM will replace the part or parts deemed to be defective, at its sole discretion, at no cost to the purchaser; any associated labor costs, however, are not covered by this warranty. This warranty applies exclusively to the original retail purchaser when (i) purchased via MyBrand App, (ii) shipped directly to the original purchaser by GM or a GM dealership, or (iii) received with vehicle at time of purchase in CARB compliant states. This GM J1772 Adapter is a portable adapter designed to enable a GM EV with a NACS charging inlet to utilize the Level 2 GM PowerUp 2: J1772 Charger (sold separately) and other compatible Level 2 chargers, including public chargers.
Place the GM J1772 AC Adapter on to the GM PowerUp 2: J1772 Charger or other compatible coupler first and then insert it into the vehicle charge port. Once a charge session is complete, you may remove the coupler and GM J1172 AC Adapter as one unit from the vehicle. You can then close the charge port and remove the GM J1772 AC Adapter from the charger, separating the two (To remove the adapter from the Level 2 charger, you will need to push the latch). GM recommends storing the GM J1772 AC Adapter in your vehicle until your next charging session.
Yes, the GM PowerUp 2: J1772 Charger is Wi-Fi-enabled to allow for charging using the myChevrolet and myCadillac mobile apps or infotainment system for charging at home or on the go. The myChevrolet and myCadillac mobile apps are available on select Apple and Android devices. The GM J1772 AC Adapter is a NACS adapter designed exclusively for safe use with the GM PowerUp 2: J1772 Charger, compatible Level 2 public chargers and other compatible non-GM Level 2 home chargers. With the use of the GM J1772 AC Adapter, GM EV drivers will have access to Level 2 chargers including the GM PowerUp 2: J1772 Charger.
GM strongly advises that customers use a GM J1772 AC Adapter for charging at the Level 2 GM PowerUp 2: J1772 Charger, which has been specifically designed to protect GM EV batteries while charging. Damage to vehicle components resulting from the installation or use of non-GM approved parts is not covered under the terms of the vehicle limited warranty and may affect remaining warranty coverage for affected parts. No, the GM J1772 AC Adapter is not compatible with the GM Energy PowerShift Charger. The GM Energy PowerShift Charger requires the GM PowerShift AC Charging Adapter (sold separately).
